Health Care

You should buy travel insurance before arriving in the Czech Republic, as you can then call the assistance service provided by your insurance company in the case of an emergency.

Citizens of the European Union, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Lichtenstein should present their European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) to health care providers.

If you get sick, you can visit a general practitioner in the area you are staying.

There is urgent care service in hospitals outside the hours of general practitioners. The urgent care service is also provided for dental emergencies.

In an emergency, i.e. when first aid is required and the patient must be transported to a medical facility (or their life is in danger), you can call the emergency line at 155 or the universal emergency line at 112.

More information about health care is available here.
